Ponteareas launches 1.2 million euro renovation of Plaza de Bugallal

The Ponteareas City Council has launched a tender for the environmental adaptation of Plaza de Bugallal, with a budget of 1.2 million euros. The project aims to transform the central urban space into a greener area by increasing shade and vegetation to mitigate the heat island effect.

The intervention includes the installation of four large organic-design pergolas and the planting of new wide-canopy trees. Architectural plans also feature integrated LED lighting, the replacement of concrete surfaces with natural and draining pavements, improved landscaping, renovated public lighting, and new children's playgrounds. The design is intended to respect local traditions and ensure space remains available for events such as Corpus Christi and local processions. This project is the first to be executed using 11 million euros in European funds obtained through the EDIL program.
