Pontecagnano Faiano fatal accident investigation

Investigations are ongoing following a fatal traffic accident in Pontecagnano Faiano that claimed the life of 15-year-old Antonio Milito. The incident occurred on Corso Italia near the intersection with via Stadio as the teenager was riding his scooter toward Salerno.

Surveillance footage and initial reconstructions suggest the accident was triggered by a 43-year-old driver from Baronissi who failed to yield while entering the main road. In an attempt to avoid the vehicle, Milito entered the opposite lane, where he collided violently with an oncoming public bus.

Authorities are investigating the actions of the 43-year-old driver, who reportedly continued driving after the impact, claiming he was unaware that an accident had occurred. Emergency responders, including the 118 medical service and the Red Cross, attempted to resuscitate the teenager, but he succumbed to his injuries. Local police, Carabinieri, and firefighters are analyzing video evidence and scene measurements to determine legal responsibility.
