Pontecagnano Faiano Mayor clarifies Picentia school plans

Giuseppe Lanzara, the Mayor of Pontecagnano Faiano, has clarified the administration's plans regarding the Picentia school to address misinformation. He stated that there is no intention to demolish the existing school building.

Instead, the municipality plans to construct a new school building near Piazza Risorgimento. This new facility will allow for seismic retrofitting of the existing Picentia and other school buildings without disrupting classes or requiring students to move into temporary containers.

The project follows a request authorized by the Campania Region to reallocate approximately 9 million euros in regional funding. While originally intended for seismic upgrades, the scale of the required work made it incompatible with ongoing lessons. The new structure is intended to serve a growing student population and will be located near the future Piazza degli Etruschi.
