Italian municipalities manage various sports facility renovations

Various Italian municipalities are managing the renovation, reopening, or restructuring of local sports facilities.

In Bisceglie, the PalaDolmen indoor sports arena has officially reopened following a two-year renovation project funded by PNRR and municipal resources. The upgrades include new flooring, improved lighting, and thermal insulation.

In Perugia, the Renato Curi stadium has completed its first phase of redevelopment, including the reopening of a renovated grandstand. Meanwhile, in Rome, a multi-purpose sports field at the Città Sant’Angelo school has been inaugurated after decades of disuse.

Other regional developments include the reopening of a modern multifunctional swimming complex in Legnano and the inauguration of a new sports pavilion in Ladispoli. However, some projects face challenges: in Muggiò, the municipality rejected a private partnership proposal for a new sports hub due to economic concerns, and in Pontedera, a newly inaugurated swimming facility has faced criticism due to delays in water heating. In Castiglion Fiorentino, local council members have voiced opposition to a plan that would convert parts of a public pool into a wellness center.
