Pontedera adds seven new players for 2026/27 season

U.S. Città di Pontedera announced a squad overhaul for the 2026/27 campaign, confirming five newcomers on its first‑team roster. The signings include central defender Lorenzo Bechini (born 2001), Brazilian goalkeeper João Vitor (2004), Portuguese winger Tiago Galeiras (2006), Portuguese right‑back Diogo Pinto (2005) and Guinea‑Bissau midfielder Claudio Mendes (2002).

The club also added two high‑profile youngsters linked to famous Italian football families: Tobias Del Piero, son of former Juventus captain Alessandro Del Piero, joins as an attacking winger, while his cousin Lorenzo Del Piero arrives as a forward. Both will play in Serie D after the club’s promotion from Serie C. The announcement noted that goalkeeper Francesco Pio Gattuso, nephew of Gennaro Gattuso, is also part of the squad, and that former Serie A striker Giuseppe Mascara will take charge as head coach.
