Pontegadea acquires stake in Australian logistics firm Qube
Pontegadea, the investment vehicle of Inditex founder Amancio Ortega, has completed the acquisition of Australian logistics and infrastructure group Qube Holdings. The deal was finalized in a consortium alongside Macquarie Asset Management and the pension fund UniSuper.
The transaction values Qube at approximately 7.16 billion euros (11.7 billion Australian dollars). Under the agreement, Macquarie will control 65% of the company, UniSuper will hold 20%, and Pontegadea will maintain a 15% stake, representing an investment of roughly 1.07 billion euros.
Qube operates an extensive network of ports, terminals, warehouses, and rail and road facilities across Australia, New Zealand, and Southeast Asia. The acquisition marks a strategic shift for Pontegadea, moving beyond its traditional real estate focus toward high-quality global infrastructure assets. Patricia Alonso, Investment Director at Pontegadea, stated that the move is part of a global diversification strategy aimed at innovative infrastructure.
