Pontes plans cemetery waste recycling facility in Serniki

The Pontes company, which is wholly owned by the Lublin Archdiocese, plans to establish a resource recovery station for cemetery waste in the Serniki municipality. The facility is intended to process materials such as glass from votive candles, plastic, and green waste, with a target processing capacity of 10 tons per day.

The project aims to operate as a closed-loop process using photovoltaic panels, with the investor claiming that noise and emissions will remain below permissible limits. However, the proposal has met with local opposition from councilors and residents, following similar protests against the company's previous attempts to implement similar projects in other locations.
