Pontevedra celebrates 25th anniversary of Feira Franca festival
The Feira Franca in Pontevedra celebrated its 25th anniversary with massive attendance, despite high temperatures during the central festivities. The event transformed the city's historic center into a medieval market, featuring activities such as wine transport, medieval tournaments, archery workshops, and historical reenactments.
Mayor Miguel Anxo Fernández Lores praised the event's success and the civic behavior of the crowds, noting that no serious incidents occurred despite the large number of visitors. The festival has become a significant economic and cultural driver for Galician tourism, attracting locals, residents from other provinces, and international tourists.
The anniversary edition included a special inaugural performance by Pablo Méndez Performances in the Praza da Ferrería and emphasized the festival's role as a key attraction for the local hospitality and retail sectors.
