Pontevedra invests 153,000 euros in urban lighting restoration
The Pontevedra City Council has launched a project to restore and replace public lighting infrastructure in the urban center with a budget of approximately 153,673 euros. The initiative involves the cleaning, sanitation, and repainting of 700 support columns and báculos to ensure durability and aesthetic quality.
The restoration process includes deep mechanical cleaning to remove debris and adhesives, followed by the application of a two-component polyurethane protective paint. Technical inspections will also be conducted on internal components, such as connection boxes, anchoring hardware, and electrical safety wiring.
The budget is divided into two main parts: 101,580 euros for the northern zone—covering areas such as San Antoniño, Benito Corbal, A Eiriña, A Parda, and O Castañal—and 52,092 euros for maintenance in the southern area. Any supports deemed unfit for restoration will be replaced with up to 176 new columns made of steel or aluminum.
