Pontevedra reports summer security and road safety results

Government Subdelegate Abel Losada presented the results of the ‘Operación Verano’ security and road safety operations in the province of Pontevedra for July and August.

Regarding road safety, there were 438 accidents recorded, which is above the average of 324. However, the number of accidents involving victims was 166, lower than the historical average of 198. The period resulted in four fatalities. Officials noted a positive trend in protecting vulnerable users, as there were no fatalities among pedestrians, motorcyclists, cyclists, or personal mobility vehicle users during these two months.

In terms of public security, the National Police and Civil Guard conducted 4,951 vehicle checks and 11,398 identity checks. Law enforcement recorded 751 infractions related to drugs in public spaces and 107 related to weapons. Additionally, authorities provided 727 humanitarian and assistance services during the summer period.
