Pontevedra to host tenth edition of Saltar na Rúa athletics event

The tenth edition of ‘Saltar na Rúa’ will take place this Saturday, August 29, in the Praza da Ferrería in Pontevedra. Organized by the Sociedad Gimnástica de Pontevedra, the event brings athletics disciplines such as long jump, triple jump, and pole vault to an urban setting.

The competition schedule includes long jump starting at 19:00 or 19:30, followed by triple jump at 20:00, and concluding with pole vault at 20:30. Participants include local athletes like Andrea Villaverde and Sergio Coello, as well as international competitors from Portugal, such as Ana Rita Silva.

Olympic athlete and European champion Juan Carlos Higuero will serve as the commentator for the event. Pontevedra Mayor Miguel Anxo Fernández Lores noted the importance of such initiatives for the city’s sporting identity.
