Pontifical Mission Societies celebrates 100 years of Domund

The Pontifical Mission Societies (OMP) has launched a dedicated website to commemorate the centenary of World Mission Sunday, known as Domund. Established in 1926 by Pope Pius XI, the day was intended to encourage the global Church to pray for and support evangelization in mission territories.

In Spain, the initiative has seen significant engagement, with the country becoming a leader in both financial contributions and the number of missionaries sent abroad. To mark 100 years, the new interactive website, domund100.es, offers a visual journey through historical archives, including photographs, videos, and traditional collection boxes.

The digital platform is divided into sections focusing on the history of Domund in Spain and the impact of missionary work in various dioceses. Statistical data highlights the long-term results of these efforts, noting that since its inception, the daily average of missionary impact has included thousands of baptisms and the construction of various schools and parishes.
