PONY League World Series canceled due to heavy rain

The PONY League World Series has been canceled due to persistent and heavy rainfall in Washington, Pennsylvania. This marks the first time in the tournament's 75-year history that the event could not be completed.

Relentless rain left Lew Hays PONY Field waterlogged and unplayable. Despite continuous efforts from ground crews, organizers determined that the weather rendered safe play impossible. Nearby turf fields were also unable to meet tournament specifications.

To avoid significant additional expenses for families and teams scheduled to depart, organizers decided not to extend the tournament. The decision resulted in the elimination of teams in the losers' bracket, including representatives from Maryland, California, Puerto Rico, and Mexico. The tournament concluded with only the two undefeated teams, Washington County and Chinese Taipei, having completed their scheduled play.
