Pooh Shiesty denied bond again in federal case over Gucci Mane

U.S. District Judge David Godbey in Dallas denied rapper Pooh Shiesty’s second request for pre‑trial release, ruling that no combination of conditions could protect the public. Shiesty, whose real name is Lontrell Williams Jr., remains in federal custody while awaiting a trial scheduled for Feb. 22, 2027 on kidnapping and extortion charges that allege he forced fellow rapper Gucci Mane to terminate a recording contract at gunpoint.

Prosecutors say the incident occurred on Jan. 10 at a Dallas studio, where Shiesty allegedly displayed a Draco‑style AK pistol and compelled Mane to sign paperwork releasing him from the contract, also seizing personal items. The defense offered a stringent supervision plan—including 24‑hour monitoring by a security firm at a projected cost of up to $700,000—but the judge rejected it, describing Shiesty as “a dangerous person.”

Earlier attempts to secure release for Shiesty’s co‑defendant Big30 succeeded, and his father and other associates have been released on bond, but the judge maintained that Shiesty’s continued detention is necessary pending trial.
