Pooh Shiesty trial scheduled for July in Gucci Mane kidnapping case

A federal trial has been set for rapper Pooh Shiesty (Lontrell Williams Jr.) and eight co‑defendants in the alleged kidnapping and armed robbery of rapper Gucci Mane (Radric Davis). Senior U.S. District Judge David C. Godbey scheduled the trial to begin on July 6, with a final pre‑trial conference on July 1. The indictment includes Pooh Shiesty’s father, Lontrell Williams Sr., and fellow rapper Big30 (Rodney Wright Jr.). Prosecutors allege the group lured Gucci Mane to a Dallas recording studio in January, used an automatic weapon to force him to sign a contract release at gunpoint, and stole jewelry, cash and other items. All nine men remain in federal custody and face up to life sentences if convicted. The prosecution must turn over evidence by June 1, and defense attorneys have challenged the lack of direct physical evidence. Pooh’s original lead counsel, Bradford Cohen, withdrew and was replaced by Dan Cogdell and Kent Schaffer.
