Poole Park wildlife attacks lead to arrest of two teenagers
Two 14-year-old boys from Bournemouth have been arrested following reports of wildlife being targeted with catapults in Poole Park. The incident, which occurred around 4:05 p.m. on Monday, August 24, involved the use of catapults loaded with metal ball-bearings to target birds.
The suspects were arrested on suspicion of possessing an offensive weapon in a public place, possessing a knife blade or sharp pointed article, and attempting to kill a wild bird. Both individuals have been released on police bail as investigations continue.
In nearby Dorchester, residents have reported similar attacks on ducks along the River Frome and pigeons in the town centre. In response to these incidents, volunteers have formed the Dorchester Duck Patrol to monitor the river and protect local wildlife. Dorset Police have stated they are reviewing footage of suspected individuals involved in recent attacks.
