Poços de Caldas authorities search for missing elderly woman
Security forces in Poços de Caldas, Minas Gerais, have intensified efforts to locate 67-year-old Ana Maria Freitas, who has been missing since Monday, November 19. Freitas, who suffers from Alzheimer's disease, was last seen at an Itaú bank branch in the city center.
The search operation involves an integrated effort between the Municipal Civil Guard (GCM), the Municipal Secretariat of Public Security and Urban Mobility, the Fire Department, the Military Police, and the Civil Police. Search efforts have included the use of a K9 unit, specifically a scent dog named Sky, though the trail could not be fully followed.
Authorities have also registered the woman in the Sentry video monitoring system, which utilizes facial recognition technology to alert teams if she is identified in hospitals or other monitored areas. Surveillance footage suggests she was last seen in the vicinity of the São Benedito neighborhood, where limited camera coverage has made tracking her movements more difficult.
