Poços de Caldas council members address employment and sports security
In Poços de Caldas, local council members are addressing social and safety concerns through legislative inquiries and motions.
Councilman Álvaro Cagnani (PSDB) has requested information regarding municipal actions to promote professional training and employment for people with disabilities (PcDs). In response, the Municipal Secretariat of Economic Development and Innovation stated that while there is no exclusive employment program for this group, they are included in general labor intermediation efforts, such as the Job Portal and annual Job Fairs. The Secretariat noted that it is currently not possible to provide a specific number of people with disabilities placed in jobs through these initiatives over the last 12 months.
Separately, Councilwoman Meiriele Cristine Alves Maximino, known as Pastora Mel (União), is proposing a Motion of Appeal to increase security at local football matches. Following recent episodes of violence during sporting events, the proposal calls for integrated actions between the Secretariats of Sports and Public Security, including potential increased presence of the Military Police and Municipal Civil Guard to prevent aggression against athletes, referees, and spectators.
