Poços de Caldas expands waste collection and neighborhood upkeep programs

The municipality of Poços de Caldas continued its Chega Junto initiative, carrying out integrated services such as street cleaning, tree pruning, public lighting maintenance, pothole repairs and waste removal across eight neighborhoods—Jardim São Paulo, Santa Rita, Bosque do Monjolinho, Jardim Del Rey, Cascatinha, São Benedito, Aparecida and Vila Nova. The phase will conclude with a public event on Saturday at the Moleque César Gymnasium in Cascatinha.

In parallel, the city’s Cata‑Treco service, which collects bulky household waste, was restructured through a partnership with the Federal University of Alfenas (UNIFAL‑MG) and its postgraduate program in Environmental Sciences. The overhaul raised daily collection capacity from about 12 to 40 requests, a 233% increase, and was documented in two academic studies that examined demand patterns and user profiles.
