Poços de Caldas extends Jardim Botânico intervention

The Mayor of Poços de Caldas, Paulo Ney de Castro Júnior, has signed a decree extending the administrative intervention at the Fundação Jardim Botânico for an additional 90 days. This marks the fourth extension of the measure.

The intervention was originally decreed following a report from the General Prosecutor's Office that identified management irregularities within the entity. During this period, Stefano Albino Zincone, the municipal Secretary of the Environment, serves as the interim president and interventor with full powers to implement corrective measures.

As part of the intervention, the mandates and duties of the Foundation's Fiscal and Curatorial councils have been suspended. A support commission consisting of municipal secretaries and representatives from the Prosecutor's Office and the Environment Department has been established to provide technical and consultative assistance. The Foundation is also undergoing a comprehensive audit of its contracts, finances, personnel, and administrative acts.
