Poços de Caldas faces shortage of municipal daycare vacancies

The municipality of Poços de Caldas is addressing a significant shortage of daycare vacancies in its municipal education network. According to data provided by the Municipal Secretariat of Education in response to legislative inquiries, 586 children are currently on the waiting list for early childhood education as of September 17, 2026.

The administration stated that it cannot provide an estimated waiting time for families, as availability depends on regional demand and residential location. To expand capacity, the city is constructing the Dom Bosco Early Childhood Education Center (CEI), which is expected to accommodate 94 children in full-time shifts by May 2027.

Additional measures being considered include studies for the expansion of existing units, the construction of new facilities, and the reorganization of the municipal network to optimize current occupancy. The local government is also seeking resources from state and federal authorities to fund these infrastructure projects.
