Poços de Caldas launches cardiovascular health program in schools

Poços de Caldas has launched the 'Brasil Coração Saudável' (Healthy Heart to Brazil) program within its municipal education network. This initiative aims to promote and prevent cardiovascular diseases among children and adolescents.

Inaugurated at the Colégio Municipal Dr. José Vargas de Souza, the program involves collaboration between the municipal government, the Secretariats of Health and Education, the Brazilian Society of Cardiology (SBC), Hospital Santa Lúcia, and PUC Minas. The project implements health monitoring within schools, evaluating indicators such as weight, height, abdominal circumference, and blood pressure.

The primary goal is to establish a cardiovascular health profile for students to identify risk factors early and develop prevention strategies. Mayor Paulo Ney stated that the initiative is an investment in the health of future generations by encouraging healthy habits from childhood.
