Poços de Caldas reports over 1,000 patients awaiting psychiatric consultations

The Municipal Health Secretariat in Poços de Caldas has reported that 1,074 patients are currently waiting for an initial psychiatric consultation within the municipal public health network. Additionally, 1,805 patients are awaiting follow-up appointments.

Data indicates that the demand for initial consultations is concentrated across several health units, with the Centro unit leading the list with 185 patients. Other notable concentrations include Country Club, Quisisana, and Jardim Formosa. The Secretariat stated it does not possess consolidated data to calculate precise average or maximum waiting times, as records are decentralized across Basic Health Units.

Regarding specialized care, the Psychosocial Care Centers (Caps) utilize a mix of outsourced and contracted professionals. Between January and July 2026, the city recorded 1,316 medical appointments at Caps Girassol, 741 at Caps AD, and 679 at Caps IJ. The municipality also maintains a partnership with Santa Casa to provide complementary psychiatric services.
