Poços de Caldas: SAMU team delivers baby Madellyn in ambulance

On Monday 27 July 2026, the SAMU (Serviço de Atendimento Móvel de Urgência) team in Poços de Caldas was called to a labor emergency in the Maria Imaculada neighbourhood. The 24‑year‑old mother, Adriene Paula Albino Ferreira, was in advanced labor, and the team decided that delivering the baby in the ambulance at the central SAMU base was the safest option.

At 09:00 the ambulance staff—doctor Lívia Carvalho, nurse Raissa Mantovani, drivers Genivaldo Silveira and Celso de Lima, and nursing technician Gilson Silva—performed a natural birth. The newborn, named Madellyn, measured 45 cm and weighed 2.49 kg. Mother and child were then transferred to the Santa Casa de Poços de Caldas for medical evaluation and are reported to be doing well. The father, 28‑year‑old Marcos Vinicius Ramos, thanked the responders for their swift and caring action. Municipal health secretary José Gabriel Pontes Baeta da Costa praised the crew for their professionalism and compassionate care.
