Poços de Caldas water plant recognized for environmental education potential

A master's research project has highlighted the educational potential of the São Benedito Water Treatment Plant (ETA I) in Poços de Caldas, Minas Gerais, as a non-formal space for environmental education.

Developed by Vânia Gonçalves through the ‘Visite o DMAE’ program, the study was presented to the Federal Institute of Education, Science and Technology of Southern Minas Gerais (IFSULDEMINAS). The research focuses on using the facility to provide students with direct contact regarding water treatment processes and resource preservation.

As part of the study, supplementary pedagogical material was created to support technical visits. This material, which details water treatment stages and the importance of sanitation and water conservation, has been made available through the University of Campinas (UNICAMP) library system to guide future educational activities.
