Pop culture conventions announced for Palermo and Scandicci

Italy is hosting two major pop culture and nerd-themed conventions in September 2026.

The Palermo Comic Convention will hold its 11th edition from September 10 to 13 at the Cantieri Culturali alla Zisa. The event features international guests including Lera Abova, known for her role in the Netflix 'One Piece' live-action, and British comic artist Charlie Adlard of 'The Walking Dead'. Other notable attendees include Italian comic creator Leo Ortolani and Japanese animator Gen Sato. The program includes workshops, gaming tournaments, K-Pop dance sessions, and an exhibition area for publishers and collectors.

In Scandicci, the new Gigacon Tuscany convention will debut on September 19 and 20. Organized by Hidden Door srl, the event will feature an Artist Alley, cosplay activities, and a significant gaming area with over 150 arcade cabinets and retro gaming stations. A concert by Giorgio Vanni, known for performing themes from series such as 'Pokémon' and 'Dragon Ball', is scheduled as a highlight of the weekend.
