Berlin hosts Pop-Kultur Festival amid various German cultural events

Berlin is hosting the 12th Pop-Kultur Festival from August 24 to 30, 2026. The seven-day event spans various districts, including Wedding and Prenzlauer Berg, featuring approximately 120 manifestations. The program includes concerts from artists like The Notwist and Sophia Kenneste, alongside discussions on feminist perspectives, queer music, and the impact of AI on the music industry. A special spotlight, ‘Sonic Crossings’ in collaboration with the Goethe-Institut, focuses on the contemporary pop scene of Central Asia.

In Munich, the Superbloom Festival is implementing a new concept from August 29 to September 2, 2026. Due to stadium renovations, the festival has expanded to five days, featuring ‘Experience Days’ followed by three concert nights. The event has transitioned to a day-ticket model, and some scheduled acts were canceled due to production issues.

Additionally, the Deutsche Oper Berlin is celebrating its opening weekend with a free program curated by artist Rirkrit Tiravanija, titled ‘Nur wenn die Menschen hier leben’. The festivities include a costume parade and a concluding concert by the orchestra featuring works such as ‘The Flying Dutchman’ and ‘War Requiem’.
