POP launches Portuguese ride-hailing platform in Lisbon
POP, a new Portuguese ride-hailing (TVDE) platform, has recorded over 2,000 passengers and 500 registered drivers within its first ten days of operation. Currently active in the Lisbon and Tagus Valley regions, the company plans to expand its services to the Porto Metropolitan Area, Braga, and Guimarães in the coming days.
To compete with international giants like Uber and Bolt, POP offers a 15% commission rate for drivers, which is lower than the 25% typically charged by its competitors. The platform also allows drivers to view their expected earnings per minute and kilometer before accepting a trip. Additionally, POP provides specialized services such as ‘Lady POP’ for female passengers requesting female drivers, senior-focused trips, and options for pet transport or passengers with specific mobility needs.
Operated by POPAPP Tecnologia e Mobilidade, the company is currently absorbing third-party payment processing and invoicing costs to support its initial months of activity.
