Pop‑Art Interior Design Trend Revives Bright Colors

A new interior‑design movement dubbed “dopamine decor” is encouraging homeowners to replace muted palettes with vivid, high‑contrast hues. Inspired by mid‑20th‑century pop‑art, the trend emphasizes primary colours such as canary yellow, scarlet red, royal blue, neon pink and toxic green, often paired with black and white accents. Decorative elements feature comic‑book motifs, bold outlines, and repeated iconic imagery, echoing the work of artists like Andy Warhol.

The approach favours playful accessories—plastic chairs, lacquered metal pieces, glossy finishes—and recommends using neutral base furniture to let the colourful accents stand out without overwhelming a space. Proponents argue that the bright, humorous aesthetic can lift mood and inject personality into modern homes.
