Pope delivers Angelus reflection on the nature of faith

During the Angelus prayer on Sunday, August 23, the Pope delivered a reflection from the Apostolic Palace window to the faithful gathered in St. Peter's Square.

Based on the Gospel of Matthew (16:13-20), the reflection focused on the fundamental question of identity: “But who do you say that I am?” The Pope emphasized that faith is not a one-time gift but a continuous journey. He noted that even the twelve Apostles needed to deepen their understanding of Christ and the mystery of the Kingdom of God.

He encouraged believers to constantly rediscover the face of Christ and the Gospel to avoid turning faith into a mere habit. This process of renewal involves aligning daily life choices with one's confession of faith and testing that faith through prayer, meditation, and responding to the needs and wounds of others.
