Pope Francis remembered by officials and followers on anniversary of death

Paraguayan Chamber of Deputies President Raúl Latorre and his family visited the tomb of Pope Francis at the Basilica of Saint Mary Major in Rome. During the visit, Latorre expressed gratitude for the affection the late Pope had shown toward Paraguay during his 2015 visit to the country.

Latorre and his family met with Pope Leo XIV at the Vatican, presenting him with a map of Paraguay crafted from filigree by national artisans and a stole featuring the colors of the Paraguayan flag. The legislator reiterated an invitation for the Pope to visit Paraguay.

In Argentina, tributes were held at the San José de Flores parish to mark the one-year anniversary of Pope Francis's death. The site is noted as the location where Jorge Bergoglio discovered his religious vocation during a confession as a young man.
