Pope Leo XIV addresses Poles on religious education

During a general audience at Saint Peter's Square, Pope Leo XIV addressed a group of Poles regarding the start of the new school year. He emphasized the importance of cooperation between families, schools, and the Church in the upbringing of younger generations.

The Pope specifically highlighted the role of religious education and catechesis, stating that participation in these lessons should “broaden horizons, deepen the knowledge of God and the world, and prepare for the fruitful reception of the sacraments.”

Reflecting on the Second Vatican Council's document “Gaudium et Spes,” the Pope spoke about the Church's mission to share in the joys, hopes, sorrows, and anxieties of humanity. He urged believers to reject passivity and indifference toward global changes and social injustices, noting that Christians are called to take responsibility for reality and stand against discrimination and violence.
