Pope Leo XIV advises seminarians on priestly formation

He cautioned against viewing these years of preparation as a luxury or an outdated institution, stating that the ability to stand still and avoid shortcuts is more necessary today than ever before.

Drawing on the Gospel of Mark, the Pope highlighted that vocation is rooted in being with Christ. He reminded the young men that their calling is a result of God's free choice and gratuitous love, rather than personal merit or competition.
