Pope Leo XIV appoints twelve new consultors to Vatican Dicastery

Pope Leo XIV has appointed twelve new consultors to the Dicastery for Promoting Integral Human Development. The appointments include a diverse group of professionals and religious figures focused on social policy and development.

Among the appointees is Lucy Afandi Esipila, the head of Caritas Africa. Esipila has extensive experience in food security, livelihoods, and climate change adaptation, having previously worked with pastoralist communities in Kenya and served as a national coordinator for Caritas Kenya.

Other notable appointees include social ethicist Peter G. Kirchschläger from the University of Lucerne, who has addressed human rights and women's ordination, and Kathryn A. Koch, a former Goldman Sachs partner and World Economic Forum Young Global Leader. The group also includes Paolo Foglizzo, an editor involved in recent Synods, and Joseph Jeyaraj Swaminathan, an Indian priest from the Salesian Pontifical University.
