Pope Leo XIV calls for peace and equality during Angelus prayer

Pope Leo XIV delivered the Angelus prayer from the Pontifical Villa in Castel Gandolfo, reflecting on the Gospel of the Canaanite woman. He emphasized that the Church must act as a messenger of peace in a tormented world and noted that the “table of God is prepared for everyone,” asserting that no one should be relegated to “crumbs.”

During his address, the Pope criticized inequalities, discriminations, and barriers that violate human dignity. He encouraged the Church to be surprised by divine grace and to communicate Christ’s peace beyond established borders.

Additionally, the Pope called for an end to violence against the Palestinian civilian population in the West Bank and prayed for peace in the Holy Land. He also welcomed the Mediterranean Games currently taking place in Italy, highlighting their potential for fostering encounter and unity.
