Pope Leo XIV issues appeals for Haiti and Nepal
During the Angelus prayer at Castel Gandolfo, Pope Leo XIV issued urgent appeals for Haiti and Nepal following recent humanitarian crises.
Regarding Haiti, the Pope addressed the massacre in Kenscoff near Port-au-Prince, where an armed incursion resulted in at least 47 deaths and 22 injuries. He noted reports of numerous kidnappings, including children, and called for the immediate release of all hostages and for those responsible to ensure the safety of the population.
In Nepal and Tibet, the Pope expressed solidarity with those affected by devastating floods. The death toll has reached 752, with 498 people still missing, including 320 foreign nationals and 85 security force members. He prayed for the victims, the injured, and the rescuers, calling for global assistance to alleviate the suffering.
