Pope Leo XIV issues first encyclical and addresses Angelus

In a separate Angelus address delivered on August 30, 2026, at Castel Gandolfo, Pope Leo XIV reflected on the Gospel message regarding the Passion of Christ. He used the biblical account of Peter’s reaction to Jesus’s suffering to discuss the difficulty of accepting divine ways that differ from human expectations and the importance of maintaining dialogue with God during times of uncertainty.
