Pope Leo XIV offers prayers for Holy Land, Ukraine, and Colombia
During the Angelus prayer at Castel Gandolfo on the Feast of the Assumption, Pope Leo XIV offered prayers for various global regions facing conflict and natural disasters. He described the Virgin Mary as a sign of hope and maternal consolation for those experiencing war, displacement, and hardship.
The Pope specifically invoked peace for the Holy Land, noting its significance as the “Land of Mary.” He also extended prayers to the people of Ukraine and Russia, as well as to Christians facing persecution or discrimination.
Additionally, the Pope expressed solidarity with Colombia following a devastating 7.4-magnitude earthquake that occurred on August 10, stating that he continues to pray for those involved in recovery efforts.
