Pope Leo XIV receives Rimini delegation and prepares South American tour

A delegation of approximately 400 people from the Diocese of Rimini will travel to Rome on September 23 to express gratitude to Pope Leo XIV following his visit to their city on August 22. The group will participate in an audience at St. Peter's Square, where they intend to present several gifts, including a volume on the Tempio Malatestiano, artistic ceramics, a rescue uniform from the Rimini Lifeguard Cooperative, and a collection of religious works by painter Giorgio Bellini.

Bishop Nicolò Anselmi stated that the visit is intended to transform gratitude into a commitment to prayer and community. The trip also serves as a precursor to the diocesan assembly scheduled for October 4.

Separately, Pope Leo XIV has a scheduled apostolic journey through South America in November 2026. The itinerary includes visits to Uruguay, Argentina, and Peru. In Uruguay, the Pope is scheduled to hold outdoor masses and meet with youth in Paysandú and Casavalle. The tour continues in Argentina with appearances in Buenos Aires and Córdoba, focusing on meetings with workers, religious leaders, and youth, before concluding with a visit to Peru starting November 12.
