Pope Leo XIV receives Senegalese pilgrims at the Vatican
Pope Leo XIV received the Senegalese Pilgrims of Justice and Peace during a solemn and joyful audience at Saint Peter's Basilica in the Vatican. The pilgrims, many of whom arrived in Rome wearing matching fabrics and carrying Senegalese flags, expressed deep emotion during the encounter.
Following the papal audience, the group traveled to Assisi, located over 200 kilometers from Rome. In Assisi, the pilgrims attended a mass presided over by Monseigneur Augustin Simmel Ndiaye, the Bishop of Saint-Louis. During the service, Abbé Martial Goram Mbaye delivered a homily emphasizing the Christian mission of service and solidarity, citing the example of Saint Francis of Assisi.
