Pope Leo XIV responds to Italian student's message
Pope Leo XIV has responded to a message sent by Viola Cavallin, a student from the Don Bosco secondary school in Vedelago, Italy. The communication, sent via the Vatican Secretariat of State, follows Cavallin’s participation in the ‘Fiera delle Belle Notizie’ (Fair of Good News) project.
Cavallin’s reflection focused on the Pope’s apostolic journey to Türkiye in late 2025, which marked the 1700th anniversary of the First Council of Nicaea. During that visit, the Pope participated in ecumenical celebrations in İznik and signed a joint declaration with Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew I in Istanbul, emphasizing peace and rejecting the use of religion to justify violence.
The Vatican’s response, signed by Monsignor Anthony Ekpo, expressed gratitude for Cavallin’s thoughts and encouraged her to ‘always seek the good and the beautiful,’ emphasizing the importance of service and fraternity.
