Pope Leon XIV visits Sagrada Família in Barcelona, calls for peace

Pope Leon XIV arrived in Barcelona in a papamobile and entered the Sagrada Família, where he prayed before the Blessed Sacrament and paid tribute to the tomb of the Venerable buried there in 1926. During the Mass, the pontiff blessed the newly completed Tower of Jesus Christ and delivered a homily in Catalan and Spanish, quoting John’s Gospel: “If you do not believe that I am, you will die in your sins.” He warned that “we cannot believe in Jesus and make war, kill the innocent or abandon the suffering.” The Pope met King Felipe VI, Queen Letizia and Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez, describing the basilica as a “sign of unity and concord.”
