Pope Leon XIV's Spain visit inspires political praise and Christian social manifesto

Pope Leon XIV toured Spain, culminating in the inauguration of the Tower of Jesus at the Sagrada Familia, a light and music spectacle that completed the basilica’s central spire and marked the centenary of architect Antoni Gaudí’s death. Regional president Isabel Díaz Ayuso posted on X that she was "building harmony and communion beyond polarization," praising the ceremony and temporarily setting aside her usual rivalry with Barcelona.

In response to the papal visit, the Christian Social Current published a manifesto titled “For a Democracy of Human Dignity,” urging a politics grounded in the intrinsic dignity of every person, family solidarity, and Christian social teaching. The document calls for policies that protect life, support families, and restore public trust.

Editorial commentary described the papal mission as a historic moment for Spain, claiming the Pope’s teachings on dignity, truth, and solidarity resonated across the nation and offered a moral framework for addressing social challenges.
