Pope Leon XIV's Spain visit showcases Claretian participation and local textile production

Pope Leon XIV made a papal visit to Spain, beginning with a series of events in Madrid that included large gatherings of clergy, youth and laity. The Claretian family and the Province of Santiago sent more than 400 participants, including 168 young adults and 240 adolescents, who attended a vigil in Plaza de Lima, a Mass at Cibeles and celebrations at the Movistar Arena and Santiago Bernabéu stadium.

At the same time, manufacturers from the town of Alcoi supplied the liturgical garments worn by the Pope. Texol produced over 4,000 metres of jacquard fabric for more than 6,300 vestments, creating 3,480 pieces for Madrid, 1,120 for Barcelona, 950 for Gran Canaria and 760 for Tenerife. Metall Art Alcoi provided the metal ornaments that featured in the papal attire.
