Pope Leon XIV’s Spain visit sparks white outfits for Queen Letizia and Virgin of Candelaria

Pope Leon XIV’s recent visit to Spain prompted a series of high‑profile white ensembles. Queen Letizia appeared in three historic occasions: a mass at the Sagrada Família, a welcome ceremony for the Pope at the Royal Palace, and the Corpus Christi procession in Madrid. Her dresses—by Redondo Brand, The 2nd Skin and Self Portrait—featured white crepe, guipur cotton and a tailored jacket‑style silhouette.

In the Canary Islands, caretaker Jaime Estévez described the simple yet elegant vestments prepared for the Virgin of Candelaria, the island’s patron saint, during the Pope’s appearance in Tenerife. The image will be carried on a wooden Santa Ana throne and will wear a white guipur lace cape for the infant Jesus, with the overall design intended to be modest and symbolic.
