Popeyes opens first Czech restaurant in Liberec

American fast‑food chain Popeyes launched its first outlet in the Czech Republic on 6 August in the Forum shopping centre in Liberec. The 238‑square‑metre restaurant, with 52 seats and a future outdoor garden, offers the brand’s signature chicken sandwich and Cajun‑style sides.

The opening attracted a large crowd; a 14‑year‑old local, Jiří Nesvadba, spent 21 hours sleeping outside to secure the first place in line and received a free sandwich. The first 100 customers were given a complimentary chicken sandwich, and the three people at the front of the queue will receive a sandwich three times a week for a year. Marko Blaževič, Popeyes’ Brand President for the Czech Republic and Poland, said the Liberec site is a key step in the chain’s regional expansion, aiming to bring the brand closer to customers in provincial cities.
