Popovače and Poreč councils approve budget revisions and local projects

The City Council of Popovače adopted a rebalancing of the 2026 municipal budget, increasing revenues by €1.8 million to €25.4 million and expenses by €2.2 million to €31.2 million. The mayor explained the changes stem from unexpected national‑competition income and the settlement of a pre‑payment for a new kindergarten. The amendment passed with nine votes in favour and five against. The council also approved a public tender to lease about 700 ha of state agricultural land, stating: “Riječ je o površini nešto manjoj od 700 ha.”

In Poreč, the council discussed several initiatives: protecting the remains of the Saint Martin church in the Sveti Martin bay, marking an archaeological Roman villa near the Friendship Parks, and evaluating a proposal to establish a hemodialysis centre to reduce travel burdens for chronic kidney patients. The mayor highlighted over €15 million invested in cultural‑heritage projects from national funds and pledged cooperation with the local museum and health authorities to advance these plans.
