Healthcare facilities in Slovakia and Czechia undergo major upgrades
Several medical and emergency facilities in Slovakia and the Czech Republic are undergoing significant infrastructure upgrades and expansions.
In Skalica, the AGEL Faculty Hospital has opened a new four-story internal medicine and neurology pavilion. The €31 million project, funded by the Recovery and Resilience Plan and AGEL's own resources, includes 96 new beds, modern diagnostic equipment, and a new CT workstation.
Poprad Hospital has completed a €57 million reconstruction, highlighted by a €9.8 million investment in a new SPECT/CT device for its nuclear medicine department. Meanwhile, the Slovak government has allocated €300,000 to the hospital in Nové Mesto nad Váhom to address urgent repairs to its boiler room and elevator, as well as to modernize its intensive care unit.
In the Czech Republic, Karlovy Vary is developing a new integrated emergency operations center (SOS 112). The project, estimated at 550 million CZK, will consolidate police, fire, and medical emergency services into a single energy-efficient building, expected to be completed by late 2028.
