Popsophia festival begins in Pesaro with theme of contrasts
The autumn edition of the Popsophia festival has launched in Pesaro, Italy, centered on the theme of “Contrasts.” The event, which runs from November 5 to November 7, explores the relationship between philosophy and pop culture through meetings, music, and virtual reality projects.
Artistic director Lucrezia Ercoli introduced the theme by drawing on Heraclitus to frame conflict not merely as destruction, but as a tension capable of producing transformation and equilibrium. The festival aims to move beyond contemporary polarization to embrace complexity and different perspectives.
The inaugural programming included a philoshow at the Auditorium Scavolini focused on the life and music of Bob Dylan. Led by Ercoli and critic Carlo Massarini, the session examined Dylan’s career, his evolution from folk to rock, and his Nobel Prize in Literature. The performance featured musical interpretations of iconic tracks such as “Blowing in the Wind” and “Mr. Tambourine Man.”
