Popstars returns to television after 25-year hiatus

The music reality competition “Popstars” is returning to television after 25 years. The new edition, which premiered on Monday, August 24, 2026, aims to discover the next major Argentine pop group.

Hosted by Nico Vázquez, the program features a judging panel composed of Nicki Nicole, Ángela Torres, and Mexican producer Charlie García. The production also includes Martín Cirio in a “spiritual coach” role and a digital react segment featuring influencers Sofía Gonet, Juli Poggio, and Valen Rizzuti.

The show is broadcast on Telefe and is available via Disney+ in Latin America. Approximately 15,000 people applied online for the new season, with 3,000 advancing to the next stages. The format is also expanding to Uruguayan television via Teledoce.
